Plug-Ins Don't Show Up in Filter Menu in International Versions of Photoshop

ISSUE

After installing Alien Skin plug-ins into an international (non-English) version of Adobe Photoshop, and restarting Photoshop, the filters aren't available in the filter menu.

SOLUTION

Alien Skin plug-ins check a registry location written by Photoshop to determine the location to install plug-ins.  International versions of Photoshop write an incorrect folder into this registry location.  For example, the plug-in folder for German versions of Photoshop CS2 is typically c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Zusatzmodule, but the path given is c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins.

Because of this problem, the installer puts the files in a location Photoshop doesn't check for plug-ins.  The solution is to reinstall the plug-in choosing to locate the plug-in folder manually rather than choosing the host program from the list.  Refer to the linked article for a step by step description of how to do this.
