Alien Skin Leopard/Intel Updates Fail to Run

ISSUE

Our Mac Leopard/Intel Updates sometimes fail on Macintosh computers that have been upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard from a previous version of OS X.  An error message indicates that the registration code is invalid and to contact Alien Skin for further assistance.

SOLUTION

The Mac OS X upgrade process sometimes leaves Alien Skin plug-in files with the wrong security permissions.  These incorrect permissions prevent our updaters from working correctly.

The solution is to repair permissions on your Mac OS X startup disk using Disk Utility.

  • Quit Photoshop.
  • Open a Finder Window on your Mac and locate the Application Folder.
  • Open the Application Folder and locate the Utilities Folder.
  • Open the Utilities Folder and run the Disk Utility application.
  • Once the Disk Utility application is running, select your Mac OS X startup disk from the menu at the left.
  • Go to the First Aid tab, and run the Repair Disk Permissions utility.
  • Once this utility has successfully run, close the Disk Utility application and re-run the Alien Skin Leopard Update that failed.
