ISSUE
I get a message that a plug-in ran out of memory either while rendering the preview or applying the effect to the image.
SOLUTION
Photoshop allocates a fixed amount of memory from the system when it is launched. It's possible to adjust the allocation so that more memory will be available for plug-ins.
From the menu bar in Photoshop, select Edit > Preferences > Memory & Image Cache. Then, increase the Memory Used By Photoshop value. You should not increase this value over 85%, as that may adversely affect performance. Then, restart Photoshop so that the new setting will take effect.
It is important not to have other applications running when you are starting Photoshop if you are going to be working on large images. Memory used by other programs may prevent Photoshop from getting the full amount that you have allocated.
