In our newest products, such as Blow Up 2, Bokeh, Eye Candy 6, and Snap Art 2, we have implemented a new activation scheme much like Adobe has in Photoshop. Our Windows installer will create a Windows Service titled “Nalpeiron Licensing Service“ and our Macintosh installer will install a daemon titled “ProTec6” in the MacHD/Library/StartupItems folder. These components do not contain any viruses, adware, malware, etc. These components must be left installed and running for our products to function. Some of the more common error codes you will encounter such as -11, -84, or -151, occur when the service is not running properly. If you have the service blocked or turned off, turning it on and restarting will often cure the issue. If not, contact Alien Skin Support with your registration code.
You can install these products on as many computers as you own, but you may only activate each product on two machines at any one time. To activate your software follow the preocedure below:
- Open Photoshop (or other supported host program)
- Open a supported file
- Run the Alien Skin plug-in
- Windows users: from the program's Help menu choose "activate"
- Mac users: from the Photoshop Help menu choose "deactivate"
- Enter your license code
- choose "Next" and "Activate Now"
Note: if you do not have Internet access or you are behind a firewall please do the following:
- After clicking "Next" choose "Other Activation Options"
- Choose the email option
- Send the Installation ID and License Code to Alien Skin Support
- We will send an unlock key
Alien Skin's user license agreement allows for activation on two computers for a single user. If you need to install on a third computer, you can deactivate one of the previous machines by following the preocedure outlined below. IMPORTANT: Uninstalling or dragging the program folder to the trash will not deactivate the software. If you plan to transfer or get rid of the computer, choose the option to erase the serial code from the machine. This will allow for activation on a new machine. To deactivate a program follow the procedure below:
- Open Photoshop (or other supported host program)
- Open a supported file
- Run the Alien Skin plug-in
- Windows users: from the program's Help menu choose "deactivate"
- Mac users: from the Photoshop Help menu choose "deactivate"
If you plan to use the program on this machine at a later date do not erase the serial code and the computer will store your settings and re-activation will be a simple matter.
Applies to: Bokeh, Blow Up 2, Eye Candy 6, and Snap Art 2.
