There are several troubleshooting steps that we go through on a regular basis when helping customers fix their software. Performing these common steps will resolve a lot of issues that are keeping your software from working.
1. Uninstall, and re-install
This is one of the most common steps that we perform and resolves at least 50% of the issues that we see. Here are the articles with instructions on how to uninstall your software from your Mac or Windows computer.
After you have removed the software from your computer, download the latest version of your software if it is available. If your software has been discontinued or a newer version has been released, it will still be necessary to open a support ticket to have a link provided to you.
2. Resetting the Photoshop preference file
You can Reset you Photoshop preferences either with a keystroke or by manually browsing to the files and then deleting them.
3. Running the software as a stand alone application (when possible)
The only programs that we currently have that can be run as a stand alone application are Exposure 3, Snap Art 3, Bokeh 2 and Blow Up3.
Windows
C:\Program Files\Alien Skin\ <software>

Mac
Macintosh HD/Applications

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Alien Skin/ <software>

Once you find the stand alone application and open it. The error message you receive when doing this may give you more information. An example that comes to mind is when on an older Mac, Photoshop will give the error "Can not open Blow Up 3 because the command can not be completed". However when you find the stand alone application and attempt to open it, you will get the error "This program can not open because it is not compatible with this type of Mac". This error message is much more to the point and can help us figure out what the problem is.
